This project involved a detailed assessment of rooftop plant areas at Darent Valley Hospital, aimed at enabling critical upgrades to improve energy efficiency and ensure compliance with updated fire safety regulations. The works were essential to modernize key infrastructure while maintaining the hospital’s ability to deliver uninterrupted patient care and daily operations.
Working within a live, fully operational hospital environment required meticulous planning and coordination to avoid disruption to clinical services. Limited access, noise control, and strict health and safety protocols were major considerations throughout the project. The plant areas were in continuous use, making phased works and close collaboration with hospital facilities teams essential to minimize operational impact.
The project included a full structural assessment of the existing roof structure to determine its capacity to accommodate upgraded plant equipment and upgraded cladding. All modifications were designed and executed with minimal impact on existing hospital functions, ensuring safety and compliance while future-proofing the facility’s building services infrastructure.
