What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone with minimum 6 years’ UK experience in structural design and project delivery, with a proven track record across a range of building types including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.

You will work closely with clients, architects, and contractors and should be comfortable managing multiple projects, solving design challenges, and leading structural packages through RIBA Stages 2–6.

The successful candidate will have a range of experience to cover the below:

Core Technical Responsibilities
  • Design structural systems in line with current codes and standards across all primary materials (steel, concrete, masonry, timber) at all RIBA work stages.
  • Develop innovative, practical engineering solutions that align with project objectives and constraints.
  • Lead the technical delivery of projects, including producing a full set of structural calculations for building control submissions, independently and to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with BIM and CAD technicians to ensure the production of accurate, coordinated structural drawings and models.
  • Clearly communicate design intent, technical decisions, and engineering principles to internal team members, external consultants, and clients.
Team Leadership and Knowledge Sharing
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to junior engineers, encouraging learning and professional development.
  • Allocate and brief design tasks and work packages, ensuring technical quality and timely delivery.
  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Engage in continued professional development (CPD), staying current with industry standards, innovations, and best practices.
Project and Client Management
  • Oversee the successful delivery of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with programme deadlines, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  • Manage peer-level relationships with external consultants and sub-consultants to support coordination and project outcomes.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and communication.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with collaborators, clients, and industry contacts.
Commercial and Practice Development
  • Support senior staff in the preparation of fee proposals, defining scopes of service, and reviewing appointment documents.
  • Actively contribute to internal initiatives, technical improvement processes, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to enhance practice-wide quality and innovation.
