Merrick Place is a landmark £157 million residential development in Southall, delivering 575 new homes across four high-rise towers ranging from 15 to 23 storeys. Employed by Vistry Partnerships, we were appointed to carry out an independent structural design assessment of all four tower blocks to verify compliance, robustness, and constructability.
In addition to the structural review, we delivered a full temporary works design package to support safe and efficient construction throughout the site.
The site presented complex challenges, particularly in the design of temporary works. Extensive underground services created constraints for the placement of crane bases and hoist foundations. Designing safe, stable solutions in these congested zones required close coordination, creative engineering, and rigorous analysis.
Our role included an in-depth independent review of the permanent structure designs to assess structural integrity and compliance with relevant standards and construction best practices.
For the temporary works, we developed detailed designs for crane bases, hoist bases, and other key elements. These solutions accounted for both load requirements and the constraints imposed by below-ground utilities, ensuring safe operation without disruption to services.
