Our client needed an indoor space for playing tennis during the winter months. Vertex designed this dual-purpose, link-attached, twin barn development on the footprint of dilapidated barns on a farm needing to be brought back into use.
Ground conditions deteriorated during the winter construction period and Vertex had to develop a novel dewatering system to allow the construction of the foundations.
The smaller barn was to be a covered storage for a tractor and trailer whilst the larger barn also needed to function as an indoor tennis court and so a steel portal-framed construction was employed for speed of construction and provide the desired headroom for tennis.
Vertex designed the SUDS drainage system using a combination of gullies, linear channels, swales and an attenuation pond to control runoff to ‘greenfield’ rates to a watercourse on the site boundary to satisfy planning conditions.
