Vertex was appointed to deliver Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and Sustainable Drainage Strategies in support of planning applications for a series of proposed solar farms across England and Wales. These projects ranged in scale from small, community-led 1MW installations to large-scale commercial developments of up to 35MW.

Working in collaboration with environmental and planning consultants, we demonstrated that the proposed solar farms were not at risk from external flood sources and that their implementation would not increase flood risk beyond the site boundaries.

Our assessments also confirmed that the installation of solar arrays would not compromise the agricultural use of the land. By incorporating thoughtful design and layout, the sites were able to retain their function as grazing land, preserving their agricultural value while contributing to the UK's ambitious renewable energy goals.
