The Ston Easton Park Estate, located in Somerset, comprises a Grade I listed building originally built around 1750, with extensive grounds listed Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, and multiple ancillary smaller buildings and structures. These include the single-store stone stables, built around 1769 in a similar architectural style to the main house.
As part of the refurbishment works proposed across the estate, our involvement is focused on ensuring that the below ground drainage networks currently serving the site are in adequate condition. This exercise involves scoping CCTV surveys of the existing drainage system, reviewing the results, and developing efficient remedial solutions were required. The remedial solutions have, in certain instances, required us to redesign certain sections of the network which were damaged beyond repair.
All new designs and proposed remedial solutions have to be tailored to suit the constraints imposed by this unique site which, among others, include significant level differences, multiple existing structures and extensive root protection areas associated with large existing trees.
